FAQ's

Where are sessions held?

Sessions are held in my home studio -based in Ayrshire, Kilmarnock~ a small and cosy boho studio with a relaxing atmosphere.

What do I wear for my session?

Newborns
For my style of photography I always recommend wearing white/neutrals, this helps keep images fresh and timeless and eyes on the children and not what everyone is wearing. I do not recommend wearing any black due to the style of the sessions , light denim jeans and a white top is always a favourite for most families.

-Outdoor sessions
I recommend wearing earthy tones during outdoor sessions, burnt orange, browns, creams, deep greens are always so lovely to give the images a warm feel.

I do also have a client wardrobe which includes a various of sizes from newborns- 6years
And a dress wardrobe for any mums that would like to wear something a little different.

if you're unsure please feel free to get in touch and we can discuss further.

What happens if Baby/Child doesn't settle for the session.

I have my own child and with that involves ALOT of patience.

For newborn sessions, babies may fight their sleep but all babies will eventually sleep...They may cry- it's completely normal! if baby doesn't settle and becomes far too agitated - this could be mostly down to colic/reflux etc then we would reschedule the session to another date that would suit.
With older children they do usually come around- if they don't like meeting new people please bring one of their favourite toys to help them.
I never dive straight into a session, I will always let children get used to the surroundings before taking their images.

How do I book a session.

For each session I take a £40 non-refundable deposit to secure your session and the remainder is paid on the day of your session.
You can use the contact form below or message me on social media.

Who can come to sessions?

For newborn sessions I only do Immediate family, as my studio is small my seating area can't hold many people, this also helps If their is siblings as too many people in one space can be overwhelming. I do not allow dogs in my studio - I understand dogs are part of families but I can't have them coming through my house, apologies for any inconvenience.

Outdoor sessions
These are usually immediate family only too unless discussed beforehand, please feel free to bring your furry human along to theses sessions!

What happens during a newborn session

Before arriving I always recommend bringing baby just in a sleepsuit to avoid disturbing baby too much before the session. If bottle feeding I advise to bring a few extra bottles as babies may need topped up during the session. If Family and Sibling images are taking place, these usually take place at the beginning of the session which means after siblings have had their images they can then leave- this is usually with Dad or another family member. if this isn't possible I just ask that you bring something to entertain them as it is a small confined area and they may get bored waiting.

Newborn sessions are baby-led and as much as we can plan to do certain poses- safety is my number one priority, if I feel baby won't do a certain pose then I will move on to another pose/prop to ensure baby stays settled and comfortable.

I provide all props and outfits for your session, if I haven't got something in that you would like then I would get it in. I will always go above and beyond to create the most special images for you and your family!

The studio is warm for baby so I advise not too wear any heavy clothing, please feel free to bring a change of clothes for after your images that way you can sit back and relax while I do all the work. During the sessions I remain hands on and take care of everything - changing, cleaning and feeding, unless stated otherwise, this just means baby doesn't get unsettled going from parents to me and we avoid waking baby.
